Churches, Temples, Cathedrals, Mosques. For thousands of years our religious buildings were designed to try to make us look up. Pay attention as you enter. You are going into a place that is bigger than you. Bigger than all of your doubts, fears, concerns. Bigger than your hate bigger than your love. Bigger than you in all the ways that things can be bigger than you.
In comparison, these buildings are small, so terribly small with such terrible histories. Of course our viewfinders are going to be set to black and white. These buildings only exist in binary. Leaving the rest of us to find some place in between to take a breath. In a black and white world, we are the grey.
