There's a program in rural Alberta which gets kids into planes. Each summer the Canadian Owner Pilots Association spends a morning taking kids up and giving them a taste of flight. We had to get up pretty early to make the 90 minute drive out to rural Alberta, to Vegreville, but the boy said it was totally worth it. He got to fly a plane. I got to watch my son noisily escape gravity, wishing I could fly with him, understanding in a moment that parenting is a two body system, feeling grounded and being okay with it.
